I fell in love with baking as a little girl growing up in Jamaica! I would sit and help my mother in the kitchen as she worked to make sure our family was always fed! I remember asking her one day why she always made so much more than we as a family could eat. Her response has stuck with me throughout these years, she said, “because you never know who may be passing by and might need a little something to catch up their stomach.”

Today, I bake with my mother in mind and the countless people that she invited in who were “passing by.” The people who she wanted to make sure had enough to continue on their journey! This compassion is something I have instilled in my children and have used as my motivator to do all that I do in love and consideration for others. I bake with my family in mind so that they too can know the joy and happiness that comes from giving out of the little you have, to make someones day just a bit brighter!
